Thai tea is a refreshing and fragrant drink made with black tea, spices and sweetened condensed milk. It’s the perfect drink to enjoy on a hot day, but it can be enjoyed any time of year. 1 cup of loose leaf black tea
4 cups of water
1 cup of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup of evaporated milk
1 tsp. of ground cinnamon
1 tsp. of ground cardamom
1 tsp. of vanilla extract
1 cup of ice
1. Brew the Black Tea
Fill a pot with 4 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Once it comes to a boil, add 1 cup of loose leaf black tea to the pot. Let it steep for 4-5 minutes until the tea has turned a rich golden color. Once it’s ready remove it from the heat and let it cool.
2. Add the Spices
Once the tea has cooled, add 1 tsp. of ground cinnamon, 1 tsp. of ground cardamom, 1 tsp. of vanilla extract and 1/2 cup of evaporated milk. Stir it well until everything is well combined.
3. Add the Sweetened Condensed Milk
Add 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk and stir it well until everything is well combined.
4. Let it Chill
Place a cup of ice into a tall glass and pour the Thai tea mixture over the ice. Let it chill for a few minutes before serving.
5. Serve and Enjoy
Once the Thai tea has chilled, give it a good stir and serve it cold. You can garnish it with a sprig of mint or a slice of lemon if you like.
